Circles: A Song 15 Years in the Making

Circles: A Song 15 Years in the Making

Some songs arrive exactly when you write them.

Others wait patiently until the moment is right.

Circles is one of those songs.

I first wrote the lyrics almost 15 years ago. At the time, I had no idea where this song would eventually take me, or that one day I would bring every part of it to life, writing, producing and recording the vocals myself.

Music has always been a huge part of who I am.

Over the years, I’ve experienced so many sides of the music industry, writing songs, working with incredible producers, recording vocals, collaborating with talented creatives and watching some songs come to life while others stayed waiting for their moment.

As artists, we often rely on collaboration to bring our ideas into the world. When the right creative connection happens, something truly special can be created.

But along my journey, I realised something important:

If I wanted to fully bring my own vision to life, I needed to learn more, trust myself more and take ownership of the creative process.

It’s funny because my dad had encouraged me for years to learn music production.

I remember being in the studio recording vocals one day when he said:

“Amber, you should watch what the producer is doing.”

At the time, I replied:

“Dad, I’m not interested in learning production. I’m a singer-songwriter. That’s what I want to focus on.”

He explained that learning production wasn’t about changing who I was as an artist, it was about adding another skill that could help me bring my ideas to life.

I confidently told him it wasn’t for me.

His response?

“Okay, but I did tell you.”

Years later… he was right.

During lockdown in Europe, I found myself away from my usual creative spaces and studio connections. If I wanted to continue creating music, I needed to find another way.

So I started learning.

I bought equipment, taught myself new skills and began recording vocals from my apartment. It definitely wasn’t a traditional studio setup, just me, my computer, my microphone, and my two cats Devon and Winnie occasionally joining in as my unofficial backup singers.

What started as a challenge became something I genuinely loved.

I began learning from producer friends, experimenting, creating demos and discovering that I was capable of more than I ever imagined.

That journey eventually led me to producing my own music.

My first self-produced release, Sometimes, was released in 2025, a song where I revisited lyrics I had written years earlier, brought them into the present, produced the track and collaborated with the incredible John Steel on a remix.

Then came Circles.

This song represents so much more than a release.

It represents growth.

It represents persistence.

It represents learning something new, trusting myself and stepping into another part of my artistry.

I believe it’s so important that we continue to learn, create and challenge ourselves throughout life.

Creativity doesn’t have an age limit.

As children, we naturally sing, dance, paint and create without questioning whether it has value. Somewhere along the way, many of us forget that creativity is one of the things that keeps us connected to ourselves.

It helps us express emotions, process experiences and transform moments of life into something meaningful.

For me, music and movement have always been connected.

They are ways to feel, release, reconnect and come back to ourselves.

I created Circles to make people move.

To dance.

To let go.

To reconnect.

Because sometimes we all need that reminder to put our favourite song on, forget everything else for a moment and simply move.

This same belief is at the heart of everything I create, whether it’s through music, movement, mindfulness or the pieces I design for women to live their everyday lives in.

A huge thank you to my dad for always encouraging me to learn, even when I didn’t think production was for me.

And to my mum, thank you for always being my biggest supporter and my biggest fan.

To everyone who has supported my journey, through my music, fashion, activewear, movement workouts or simply by cheering me on, thank you. I’m so grateful to have you here.

I hope Circles brings you as much joy listening to it as it brought me creating it.

Now it’s time to dance. 🤍

Much Love

Amber x
